Education\u00a0is no exception, the integration of\u00a0ICT in\u00a0this area\u00a0being\u00a0a global\u00a0challenge. However, the issue\u00a0of access\u00a0is\u00a0on the\u00a0agenda\u00a0and\u00a0is closely\u00a0linked to the\u00a0financial coverage.There are numerous\u00a0examples\u00a0which\u00a0reveal that\u00a0new technologies contribute, through\u00a0theirhigh\u00a0costs, the\u00a0increasing\u00a0gap between\u00a0rich and\u00a0poor,\u00a0between\u00a0rural\u00a0and\u00a0urban,\u00a0between\u00a0the centre and peripheries, etc.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">One of\u00a0the answers\u00a0to the most recent\u00a0and most\u00a0promising\u00a0to\u00a0issue\u00a0is education,\u00a0including access to\u00a0open educational\u00a0resources\u00a0(OER),which provides for\u00a0equal\u00a0access\u00a0to education\u00a0and\u00a0resources,\u00a0digital skills\u00a0for\u00a0teachers and students,\u00a0as well\u00a0as\u00a0transparency and integrity\u00a0in schools. The concept of\u00a0open educational\u00a0resources\u00a0is one of\u00a0the results of\u00a0the natural\u00a0evolution\u00a0of the interaction\u00a0between the two\u00a0branches-education\u00a0and ICT.\u00a0According to the definition\u00a0proposed by\u00a0UNESCO in\u00a02002, OER\u00a0are\u00a0educational resources\u00a0that can be used\u00a0and reused freely,\u00a0without restrictions, legal and\u00a0technological\u00a0costs,\u00a0by anyone. Their use\u00a0in the performance of\u00a0public programs\u00a0is one of the\u00a0basic principles of\u00a0good governance:\u00a0what\u00a0is\u00a0produced on\u00a0public money should be\u00a0available\u00a0to the public\u00a0free of charge.<\/p>\n<p>In Moldova, the activity\u00a0of producing\u00a0RED\u00a0is\u00a0in its early stages,\u00a0but there are\u00a0significant\u00a0opportunities\u00a0for the future.\u00a0In this context,\u00a0Educational Centre PRO DIDACTICA,\u00a0with the financial support\u00a0of the Foundation\u00a0Open Society\u00a0Institute,\u00a0in cooperation\u00a0with\u00a0the\u00a0Education program\u00a0of\u00a0the Open Society\u00a0Foundations,\u00a0launches in Moldova <strong><em>the<\/em><\/strong> <strong><em>Open\u00a0Education\u00a0Project:\u00a0Here\u00a0and Now,<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0implemented in the period november\u00a02015 &#8211; july\u00a02016.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The goal of the project is to promote 1)<\/strong> public access to publicly funding educational materials and <strong>2)<\/strong> the concept of open educational resources through awareness raising, advocacy, coalition building, resource development which can result in providing more access to quality education for all.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The specific objectives of the project are:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To introduce the OER concept on the public agenda;<\/li>\n<li>To facilitate the creation of an available OER coalition in Moldova;<\/li>\n<li>To initiate an advocacy campaign for fostering changes in policy documents that are important for incorporating OER in policies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The main activities and expected results:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Development\u00a0of\u00a0OER databases\u00a0and\u00a0their launch,\u00a0including\u00a0on-line<\/li>\n<li>Creation of\u00a0OER\u00a0functional\u00a0coalition\u00a0in Moldova<\/li>\n<li>Identification of\u00a0interested parties\u00a0(stakeholders)\u00a0in\u00a0promoting and implementing of the OER<\/li>\n<li>Launching a contest of the best open educational resources<\/li>\n<li>Organization of\u00a0round tables and\u00a0systematic meetings\u00a0to promote\u00a0the OER<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Project beneficiaries:<\/strong> students, teachers, schools, parents, students, political actors, public institutions, NGOs etc.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Impact (and sustainability) of the project:<\/strong> Education reform is a national priority reflected in several policy documents of the Republic of Moldova, including Moldova 2020 Strategy. This project is in line with educational reforms, addressing the concept OER determining better access to open education.
