Basic principles in the curricular design of Intercultural Education in universities
Between March 4-5, the second group of university professors from the State Pedagogical University “Ion Creanga”, the State University of Tiraspol, the State University “B.P. Hasdeu” from Cahul and the State University “Gr. Țamblac ”from Taraclia participated in the first workshop on curricular development of the dimension of Intercultural Education (IE).
Ms. T. CARTALEANU, trainer with advanced experience in the field, facilitated eight interactive sessions, in which key theoretical aspects were debated, then the skills of designing the development of intercultural competence were practiced through undergraduate programs.
The initiative takes place within the project “Development and promotion of intercultural education in initial teacher training” (phase 2), supported by the “Pestalozzi” Children’s Foundation in Switzerland and implemented by CE PRO DIDACTICA, in partnership with 7 universities in the country.
The participants, over 20 teachers, who teach socio-humanities in the field of “Education Sciences”, capitalized on the theoretical and practical achievements in developing a prototype IE curriculum, probing from various angles perspectives, possibilities to approach IE in multicultural academic environments.
With the status of extension, the beneficiaries in question will develop, based on the curriculum of each institution, IE courses, modules or themes, expanding the educational offer of the university and responding to the needs of today’s students, but also national and international norms.
