RESULTS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE PROJECT “EUROPEAN LESSONS”
In late November, the project team, in collaboration with expert trainers Eugenia Negru and Rodica Eşanu have completed initial testing of optional updated curriculum “European Integration for you.” The activity took place in four high schools in the country: Prometheus-Prime Lyceum in Chisinau (prof. Eugenia Negru); Lyceum “Emil Necula” Mereni, Aneni Noi (prof. Veronica Stratu); Lyceum of Răspopeni (prof. Galina Caba) and Lyceum “Mihai Eminescu” Hincesti (prof. Rostislav Ilin). The piloting process itself will run until the end of the current educational year, and finally, we will disseminate all new materials developed for teachers and high school students on new topics of disciplinary curriculum.
The 81 students of class XII, guided by four teachers, study the European integration of Moldova with its problems, rooted in the immediate reality and gave us relevant feedback on curricular positive aspects, andom its problems / difficulties arising, suggest the recommendations for improvement / completion of Practicum for students and for teachers Guide. It insists on holding interactive classes and on a participatory management of their education.
Among the positive aspects are mentioned:
• Material well-structured, accessible, useful, enabling students to achieve functionally learning tasks, stimulates working with various sources of information, enables the expression of the diversity of opinions.
• Current issues, causing interest students. The informational support is diverse and visually presented as theoretically accessible.
• Structuring information in charts and tables allow students to more easily understand, the more groups that help each other, discuss all views.
Among the recommendations we find:
• The included of multiple images, some additional materials from the Guide (p. 13, for example) to past in the student book;
• To develop some ideas through examples, photos, opinions of citizens;
• Reading information from manual text takes time, it could offer shorter texts, but equally valuable for qualitative knowledge and understanding;
• The teacher should choose techniques which would allow flexibility and adapt to the needs of students; encourage students to express personal views and in identifying where could apply the gained knowledge.
- It would be necessary for teachers to create a website or a CD to promote the exchange of experience and improve the educational process as a whole.
Finally, we warn teachers that teach optional subjects concerned to ascertain the updated text of the curriculum, placed on the www.prodidactica.md website and include new subjects in teaching, learning and assessment process. Informational support and additional teaching materials for students and teachers will also be available in the next semester.
Other educational activities, formal and informal, of this international project for youth education in the spirit of European values, will take place during 2016 year in partnership with colleagues from Lithuania and Georgia.
