In the period of 17-19 April 2019, the university professors, beneficiaries of the project Promoting and developing intercultural education in initial teacher education, participated in a unique training of professional development in the field of intercultural education, carried out by the international expert from the University of Bucharest, prof. Dr. Mrs. Anca NEDELCU. The followed modules covered in a participatory manner an actual and useful theme, including: Pedagogy of Diversity; the need for intercultural approaches in education; Cultural Diversity in Education: principles, dimensions, and practices; Let’s look different to differences! Reflection and exercises; Pedagogy of Diversity and school curriculum; competent teacher from the intercultural point of view; Non-formal contexts and intercultural education; Teacher training from the perspective of interculturalism: models, dimensions, examples; discipline sheet design on “Intercultural Education” and “Intercultural Communication”.
Mrs. NEDELCU’s rich professional experience facilitated her complex incursion into EIC issue, as well as the analysis of successful practices in different countries of the world. Participants appreciated the trainer’s training program and skills, emphasizing that the training has fully responded to their expectations and that the pedagogical support provided would be very useful in developing the EIC modules. Among the memorable activities, we mention the following: the international structures and methods of the EIC, the films watched by the participants and their detailed comments from the perspective of their functionality in our context, the BINGO game, the non-formal education activities (the “Blue Bird” performance at the theater “Eugen Ionesco ” and visiting the Central Cemetery in the capital) etc.
At the end of the activity, the participants were offered certificates of participation, reiterating the importance of developing the university curriculum of Intercultural Education for future teachers, based on the institutional plan of each partner university: Moldova State University, Comrat State University and Alecu Russo State University of Balti.
